I can RelianceConnect on my Mac!

by Dina on August 29, 2007

I have loved every moment of using my Macbook ever since I bought it in August – I found, learning a new OS isn’t tough at all, against all my earlier reservations!!! The only time I have felt the need for Windows on Parallels is when travelling, as I believed my Reliance Netconnect USB Modem, which needs a Huawei EC325 Driver is not available for the MAC OS! Couldn’t find the driver on the Huawei site either, so I just assumed it’s not compatible.

So I was all set to get Windows just for that, when I looked around once more on Google for any last-minute solution which would not require me to stuff up my Mac with Windows – and to my delight I discovered this comment that offered up the driver for the Mac. And it works just fine. Thank you Mugblog!

For those of you that don’t want to use your mobile to connect to the Internet, you can use the HUAWEI EC325 USB Card to connect your MacBook or MacBook Pro to the Internet.

It’s a shame that the Reliance website is so misleading, where it categorically states:

EC321 client software supports:
Windows 2000.Windows XP.Windows 2003.
Only 32 byte OS is supported; 64 byte OS is not supported. Unix, Linux, Mac, Windows NT, is not supported by EC321.

And I am so grateful for blogs and comments that lead you to such discoveries, when companies fail to solve your problems!
