Stuart Henshall
As CEO, my job is making us all live up to the Mosoci Promise. I’ve spent thirty years developing innovative marketing solutions and have a portfolio of world first stories in consumer products, in food, toiletries, communications, social media, and technology. I’m part detailed analyst, product evangelist and a definite early adopter of new technologies. I combines a deep understanding of strategic foresight with a fairly ruthless curiosity about users, their needs and ability to engage in new experiences.
My priority number two is the “a ha” factor; the desire to find the insights and stories that make inventive opportunities both possible and plausible business cases. I also focuses on facilitating program design, whether a simple focus group or multi-month scenario learning projects it is important to involve the client.
Daily Motivation?
I believe we are on the cusp of enormous change. New technologies are rapidly changing the way we live, work and play; communicate and collaborate, in a mobile local world. As a brand marketer and strategist one must always seek better questions about the future. There is real satisfaction in deep involvement with people, products, rapid-prototyping, and observation.
Activism – Perhaps:
I want us to own and control our own data. Over 10 years ago I wrote The COMsumer Manifesto. It’s my identity! I want a world that is open not closed. I’m also at the forefront of the real-time web, interested in ambient intimacy, context, and emerging “signals” around presence and location. Some changes to the Internet worry me.
What else?
I’ve worked with big brands, companies, and top management. I started on Old Spice and Pine-Sol and went on to rename companies, complete brand turnarounds, launched new brands, and run marketing for a large coffee chain and lifestyle retailer. After a career in senior marketing roles, I joined GBN working with the world’s leading Scenario Planners. I’ve also taught programs on strategy and scenarios at leading Universities. I’m a recognized blogger since 2002, thought-leader in knowledge management (E100), the VoIP space, and social media. I’m also actively generating solutions using “API’s” and mashups. The most recent of these used Twitter; Phweet and Twitmart. I’m both speaker and live-blogger at many conferences including SuperNova, Von, eComm, KMWorld, Reboot and more.
I studied at the University of Auckland, Bcom and CA and mostly live in California. I have lived around the world, including, India, New Zealand, Holland, UK and many others short-term. I like building things, reading, traveling and anything that goes fast!
